Bus
The most convenient way to get into Barcelona from the airport is by taking the AEROBUS, the big blue bus parked outside the airport terminals. From there, it takes about 30 minutes until Plaça Catalunya, its final destination. Tickets can be purchased at the bus for €7,25 (one way) or €12,50 (return) per person. A return ticket, can be used up until 6 months from the purchase date, make sure you keep your ticket or take a clear picture of it!
Pick-up:
- Terminal 1: upon entering the terminal, walk in straight and follow the AEROBUS signs to take the escalator down to the bus.
- Terminal 2: upon entering the terminal, walk straight out and you’ll find the bus on your left hand side.
Drop-off:
- Depending on your destination, you can get off at either of the four stops:
Plaça Espanya
Gran Via - Borrell
Plaça Universitat
Plaça Catalunya
- If you’re traveling directly from the airport to the wedding venue, it’s recommend to get off at the final stop, as the train to the venue (located in Caldes d’Estrac) leaves from Plaça Catalunya.
Train
In case you arrive at Terminal 2, you can take the train (line R2 Nord) into the city. It has multiple stops in Barcelona for you to get off depending on your destination. If you go to the town of wedding venue directly, you will need to change to the relevant train (R1), which you can do at Barcelona Sants station (the third stop on the R2 Nord line from the airport). You can reach the Terminal 2 train station from Terminal 1 as well, in this case you need to first take the shuttle bus to Terminal 2 (it’s a green bus leaving from the same spot as the AEROBUS).
The four stops in the Barcelona city centre on the R2 Nord line are:
- Barcelona Sants (3rd stop, change here for the R1 line to Caldes d’Estrac)
- Barcelona Passeig de Gracia
- Barcelona El Clot
- Barcelona Sant Andreu
The R2 Nord train from the airport runs every 30 minutes, you can find the schedule here.
Taxi
You can always take a taxi from the airport, the pick-up spot is clearly indicated in both airport terminals (and located next to the AEROBUS). A taxi into the city centre will cost you around €35 to €45, depending on your destination, number of suitcases, etc.
If you’re planning to go with a taxi to the city centre and from there to the wedding venue, tell the driver to drop you at Plaça Catalunya so you can take the train from there.
Train
The easiest way to get to the town where the wedding will be celebrated, called Caldes d’Estrac, is by train. There is a direct line from the Barcelona city centre (see stations below) to this town, which will take about 50 minutes and will cost only €4,90 (one way).
Make sure to take the R1 line in the direction of Maçanet-Massanes. The stop to get off at is Caldes d’Estrac, like the town, about 12 to 16 stops from the Barcelona city centre depending on where you get on.
The four stops in the Barcelona city centre on the R1 line are:
- Barcelona Sants (change here from the R2 Nord line from the airport)
- Barcelona Plaça Catalunya
- Barcelona Arc de Triomf
- Barcelona El Clot
The R1 train from the Barcelona city centre runs every 10 to 20 minutes, you can find the schedule here.
Please find the directions (from Barcelona Sants) here.
Car
From the Barcelona city centre it's a 40-minute drive to the destination. Exit Barcelona on the North-Eastern side of the city, either through Gran Via, Ronda Litoral or Ronda de Dalt and follow the C-32 highway in direction Matarò to Sant Vicenç de Montalt, exit 108. After taking the exit, follow the direction Caldes d'Estrac. The wedding venue and both hotels are all located within a 5min drive from one another.
Please find the directions (from Barcelona Plaça Catalunya) here.
We of course hope for everyone to stay the entire weekend! In that case, you can return to Barcelona or directly to the airport by train or car going the same way as the way up but in the reverse direction. :)
For those not staying in Caldes d’Estrac and wanting to return to Barcelona later at night, there’s a night bus (line N82) leaving town from a bus stop called Les Ànimes – Costa Brava, located at a 10-minute walk from the wedding venue. From there, it’s a 45-minute bus ride to Plaça Catalunya.
